Exciting Improvements Coming to Shingle Creek

October 14, 2024

Hello Neighbors!

We’re excited to share some great news—Shingle Creek will soon be undergoing some much-needed improvements, and we can’t wait to see how these updates will enhance our beloved community space. This project is part of the City of Minneapolis’s ongoing commitment to creating vibrant, safe, and welcoming parks for everyone to enjoy.

What’s in Store for Shingle Creek Park?

The improvements will focus on enhancing accessibility, refreshing amenities, and upgrading facilities to ensure the park serves us all for years to come. Although final plans are still being finalized, here are a few possibilities under consideration:

Playground Upgrades: New equipment that will be safer, more accessible, and designed for all ages.

Picnic & Gathering Areas: Enhanced spaces with new tables, benches, and shelters.

Trail and Pathway Repairs: Smoother paths for walkers, runners, and bikers, with improved lighting for safety.

Green Spaces & Landscaping: Tree planting and garden spaces to add beauty and shade throughout the park.

You can find more information about the upcoming improvements to Shingle Creek on the Minneapolis Park & Recreation Board’s official page dedicated to the project. The improvements will focus on enhancing amenities, accessibility, and community spaces, and they are currently in the design and planning stages, with construction anticipated for 2025.
